I once heard a story about Lee Krasner. She reportedly was frightened by a small eye that appeared in the upper corner of one of her paintings. late 50s i think? can't find it online.

VC- I just read something about that recently. It could have been mentioned in the bio of Grace Hartigan I just read. I'll look for it!
