"minimal color field"? ain't that like Neo-classical rococo? I think this is what Hegel called a synthesis. Of course, as James Meyer points out, the "battle lines" were not immediately drawn. Michael Fried gave a favorable review to Judd's first show. Maybe Bannard is less known because less assimilable to a polarized history. Bravo to Berry Campbell for keeping that in view.
