Did You Hear? We're All Going To Die

Vincent Van Gogh, Wheat Field in the Rain, 1889

A favorite instructor used to hand out a copy of this quote at the beginning of every semester.

"This is a record of your time. This is your movie. Live out your dreams and fantasies. Whisper questions to the Sphinx at night.Sit for hours at sidewalk cafes and drink with your heroes.
Make a pilgrimage to Mougins or Abiquiu. Look up and down.Believe in the unknown for it is there. Live in many places. Live with flowers and music and books and paintings and sculpture.
Keep a record of your time. Learn to write well. Learn to read well. Learn to listen and talk well. Know your country, know the world, know your history know yourself.
Take care of yourself physically and mentally. You owe it to yourself. Be good to those around you
and do all of these things with passion. Give all that you can.
Remember, life is short and death is long."

Nice Van Gogh. I can't remember seeing this one before. I don't really know a whole lot about Fritz. A professor/friend had a book of his work. I remember a series of Native American paintings. Anything you can recommend. Have you seen any good shows of late? Will there be any good shows this summer? I am thinking of flying up for the De Kooning retro in the fall.

Same here, w/ Scholder. I only know some of the Native American paintings.
Right now there is a painting show called Three at Theodore:Art in Soho that i like a lot. I plan to post some pics and a review this week sometime.
I'm really looking forward to the de Kooning show! There is a show of his up at Pace uptown that I need to get over to see soon.
Also this summer Moses Hoskins is having a show at the Garrison Art Center in Garrison NY in August. I'd love to make it to that.
