I like these works very much... I am especially struck by the darker works, the browns, the deep reds, the blacks...Cy Twombly may or may not have been serious when he told an interviewer (Nicolas Serota, Rome 2007) that he had been struck by the great room at the Frick "with all those incredible paintings... the secret to great paintings is brown." I am liking the Lasker works that offer the most limited palette, as that helps point up the incredible depth and form...

I was thinking about these recently--they have been so important to me in the course of my own studio work. I'd love to see what new Lasker paintings look like too.
